Prepare for your Skype For Business Meeting
Outfit yourself with UAA’s Skype For Business (SfB) by signing up for it. After sign-up, please verify the SfB program is installed on your computer. KPC computers should already have it; you may see older versions referenced as “Lync”. If your KPC computer requires an installation or upgrade, please contact IT or ETT. For personal computers, you may download it; this site requires UA credentials. Next, run the SfB program and login. Note that the Username field will not appear until after you enter the Sign-in Address and Password.
- Sign-in Address is firstname.lastname@example.org. Example: email@example.com
- Username is ua\user. Example: ua\jbsmith
- Password is your UA network password.
Once logged in, be sure to adjust your camera and microphone settings to your preference by clicking the gear icon in the upper right and then “Audio Device” and “Video Device” tabs.
You will receive an email invitation for Monday’s Skype For Business meeting; after accepting it, notice a calendar event appears in Outlook/OWA. To join the meeting, simply open the calendar event and click “Join Skype Meeting” link. You are able to join the meeting at any day/time beforehand to test your connection and audio settings.
Cloudy with a Chance of Sunshine
Microsoft’s Office 365 (O365) takes the popular Office suite into the cloud — enabling collaboration, convenience, and reliability. Please sign-in to O365 and add it to your browser’s bookmarks/favorites. The sign-in email is firstname.lastname@example.org; for example, email@example.com. The password is your UA network password. We will be working in OneDrive, Word Online, Excel Online, and PowerPoint Online “web apps” within a browser. For KPC computers, please do not click the “Install Now” button for Office 2016. For personal computers, you may download/install Office 2016 on up to 5 computers (PC or Mac).
